Those flying into Newquay Airport will find holiday cottages in Mawgan Porth are very convenient. Little more than a hamlet, it lies in a lush valley midway between Newquay and Padstow. Remaining largely unspoilt, it nonetheless has a supermarket, tennis courts, crazy golf, riding stables and several places for enjoying snacks and meals. The "bright lights" of neighbouring Padstow and Newquay offer a wider choice of attractions, restaurants and nightlife.

The nearest beach to Mawgan Porth is Watergate Bay, a huge stretch of golden sand with plenty of space for surfing, kite surfing, land yachting and wave skiing. Porthcovan is a beautiful beach for families to enjoy and Treyarnon has a natural swimming pool with rock pool and caves just begging to be explored.

Visit neighbouring St Mawgan, a pretty village with a 14th century parish church and the Convent of Lanherne. The old bridge is the site of an ancient ford. Walk the Vale of Lanherne Trail, explore the stunning coastal path to Carnewas Island or pay a visit to beautiful Bedruthan Steps, a series of columns said to be created by a giant.
